Title: “ Vera´s journey: An Insight into the World of System-Breaker Children“
Project Description: In the course of a documentary film, supplemented by a unique animation, we dive deep into the world of so-called ’system-breaker‘ children. Through the eyes of Vera, a young girl whose life is turned upside down by the German education system, the film portrays the emotional and social upheavals faced by these children. Vera, who was happy in her familiar environment, is forced by circumstances to confront a new reality marked by misunderstandings and exclusion.
Content: The animation, serving as an intro, is not traditionally animated, but rather resembles a moving picture book. It tells the true story of Vera, highlighting the failure of the system and the significant impact on the girl’s life. In parallel, the documentary addresses the issue of system-breaker children being torn from their social context and presents alternative concepts that cater to the needs of these children without removing them from their environment.
Goal and Distribution: The film sheds light on an innovative model project that aims to help affected children in their familiar environment. It is shown at conferences and training sessions to attract more social service providers to this approach and to bring about a positive change in dealing with system-breaker children.
Special Features: The project, realized with a limited budget, demonstrates how creative solutions and collaboration can lead to a profound and effective narrative that sharpens awareness of an important social issue.
